I entered the Roku model number from a different TV that I have, and I received a popup asking if my TV was one of three models (Which it was). My TV is out of warranty, so I started poking around. Glancing at the code, it appears the serial number is just ignored, more on that in a sec). However, entering just a serial number without a model number results in an error. The Roku model number can usually be found in the settings screen in the TV, but obviously that screen can't be accessed when the TV is stuck an unresponsive red screen.įor some reason, Roku does not seem to provide a "Reverse lookup" from a TV's model number to its associated Roku model number (Oddly, the lookup form on their site includes an optional Serial Number field, which would imply that the Roku firmware can be determined from the serial number. Unfortunately, in order to download the Roku firmware from their website you need the Roku model number, which is not the same as your TV model number.
